Officials with the City of Hopkinsville announced Friday the renaming of E. 21st Street to “Bill Flynn Boulevard” — in what is a loving memory and tribute to his enduring legacy, leadership, philanthropy and dedication to a community he called home.

In 1976, he founded Flynn Enterprises in Hopkinsville. This began as a local endeavor, and later flourished into an international company with locations spanning across western Kentucky.

Despite the growth of this enterprise, Flynn remained deeply committed to his roots, serving as chairman of the board until his passing.

Outside of his entrepreneurial pursuits, Flynn was a true philanthropist, and remained dedicated to enhancing the lives of countless individuals in Christian County and beyond.

In a written statement, Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight said the decision to rename E. 21st Street to Bill Flynn Boulevard was “a fitting tribute,” and that it was a small gesture “to honor a man whose legacy will continue to inspire for generations to come.”

Residents, community leaders and friends of Bill Flynn and his family are invited to join in commemorating this occasion at 1 PM April 18 on the corner of E. 21st Street and Ft. Campbell Boulevard.
