State Police Investigating Caldwell County Murder

The death of a 93-year old Princeton woman is being investigated as a murder, according to Kentucky State Police.

According to Post 2 spokesman Trooper Ridge Porter, detectives began a death investigation after being contacted by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday evening. He says an investigation into the incident determined the death of Dorothy Sparks was a homicide.

As previously reported, Princeton firefighters responded to the 11000 block of South Jefferson Street/KY 293 for a fire around 7:00 Thursday evening. Upon arrival, they requested Sheriff Don Weedman come to the scene, who called Kentucky State Police to join the investigation.

Trooper Porter said a preliminary investigation revealed that Sparks was found deceased inside her residence. Her body was sent for an autopsy.

State police have not released any additional information.

The investigation is ongoing by Detective Jacob Stephens.
