A Hopkinsville man was charged with several counts of wanton endangerment after he reportedly discharged a gun and pointed a gun at officers on Lafayette Road Monday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say they were called to the area for a report of a possible burglary and when they arrived they told the homeowner 29-year-old Jamaal Wilkerson to come outside and put down his gun.

Police say that is when he pointed the gun at officers and then dropped it.

Wilkerson’s wife reportedly told police he had fired the gun in the house with her and the children inside.

Police say a shell casing along with a spent round were found.

He was arrested and charged with third-degree assault of a police officer and five counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.
