Christian County Remembering The Life Of Gene McIntosh

gene-main-1

Members of the Christian County community, and beyond, are remembering the life of Gene Gale McIntosh, who died July 4 at his home — surrounded by his family.

He was 78.

A 1964 graduate of Todd County Central High School, he met and married the love of his life — Sandra — and was a proud Air Force veteran with experiences of 1970 Vietnam.

He worked for Colonial Bread Company, Ewing Tire, Raben Tire and served as a Hopkinsville City Council member for a decade, from 1988-98, and in retirement turned to grandfatherly duties and volunteered at Millbrooke Elementary.

He also served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and greeter at First Baptist Church, served as Christian County American Cancer Society president in 1983, worked as girls softball coach for Hopkinsville-Christian County Youth Softball and often helped at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen.

A former member of Hopkinsville Optimist International, the Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority (HWEA) Board and the Hopkinsville Electric System (HES) Board, he also was a participant and host family for The Walk to End Alzheimer’s, as well as Active Day and Rock Steady Boxing.
