Two more women have been charged Wednesday with complicity to manslaughter after an investigation into an Elkton man’s death on June 18th.
Detectives with the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force say they investigated the death of a 21-year-old man who was found to have died from a fentanyl overdose after an autopsy.
The Investigation led to the arrest of 32-year-old Whitney Harper on July 2nd who detectives say supplied the fentanyl to the man.
After further investigation, detectives say 62-year-old Kimberly Moorefield of Hopkinsville who is the grandmother of the victim aided in the death along with 41-year-old Shannon Moorefield of Elkton who is his mother.
Detectives say Shannon Moorefield provided other substances to the deceased before his death.
Shannon Moorefield was arrested Wednesday and charged with complicity to second-degree manslaughter, trafficking fentanyl, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (drug unspecified), and third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.
Kimberly Moorefield was also arrested Wednesday and charged with complicity to second-degree manslaughter. Harper was arrested on July 2nd and charged with second-degree manslaughter.
The investigation was a joint effort by the Todd County Sheriff’s Office and the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force.
