February is Healthy Heart Month and with heart disease a major issue in Christian County the health department is focusing on health aspects that can affect your heart. Christian County Health Department spokeswoman Amanda Bassingthwaite says the county’s heart health statistics are worse than the national statistics.
She adds there are several contributing factors to poor heart health in Christian County.
Bassingthwaite also presented some examples that are contributing to heart disease in the county.
She notes the best way to a healthy heart is physical activity. Bassingthwaite says they are constantly trying to keep the community informed of various physical activity programs going on in the county. With warmer weather and Spring around the corner, she adds there will be a lot more opportunities for community members to get active.
