Trigg County Man Killed In Tuesday Crash

A Trigg County man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a single vehicle accident at the intersection of Interstate 24 and the Pennyrile Parkway. State Police say 63-year old Carl Mason, of Cadiz, was eastbound on I-24, and was attempting to exit onto the Pennyrile Parkway, when he apparently lost control of his vehicle, and exited the roadway.

State Police say witnesses to the crash told investigators that Mason’s vehicle had been making abrupt lane changes, driving off into the median, and passing in the right lane, prior to the accident. Mason then attempted to exit to the Parkway, but failed to negotiate the curve. His vehicle exited the left shoulder of the roadway and traveled down an embankment.

The vehicle then overturned and struck a ditch filled with large rock, coming to final rest on its top, in the ditch. Mason was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred around 4:41pm.
