KY Department Of Revenue Starts Processing Refunds Tuesday

If you have already filed your 2017 income tax, you will not have to wait much longer if you are expecting a return. The Kentucky Department of Revenue started processing individual tax returns Tuesday after completing tax return testing and processing earlier than planned. That means refund checks are now being processed, nearly a week before the original February 26 date.

Another reason the processing began earlier than anticipated, state officials say is the willingness of taxpayers to file electronically.

According to officials, E-filed returns are typically processed within two to three weeks for taxpayers who choose the direct deposit option, while paper checks take an additional week to process.

Paper filed returns can take up to eight to twelve weeks to process.

You can track the progress of your tax returns by going to the Income Tax Refund Status page or the DOR website http://revenue.ky.gov/Pages/MyRefund.aspx.
