Ft Campbell: Female Body Armor Testing For 1st Brigade Combat Team
19 women with the 1st Brigade Combat Team, who will be deploying to Afghanistan in the next few months to serve as a liason with Afghan women, have been testing generation 3 body armor for the past several weeks. The Female Engagement Team is the first group of women in the army to test the new gear, which is specifically designed to fit women better.

Hospital Week
WKDZ 106.5FM was on location Tuesday, May 8, at Trigg County Hospital to help celebrate Hospital Week. The theme for the week is “Trigg County Hospital is hooked on quality healthcare”. A variety of services were offered to the public including free blood pressure checks, blood sugar test and strength tests. The new ambulance arrived during the remote. The ambulance for be christened Wednesday at 11:30 and added to the ambulance fleet.

Great Horned Owl Released At Mt Zion Church
Several friends, family members and wildlife enthusiast were on hand Thursday evening as a Great Horned Owl named Mary Hulet, in honor of Broadbent Wildlife Sanctuary founder Mary Ann Tobin's mother Mary Hewlett Broadbent, was released after rehabilitation. The owl was found injured near Mt. Zion United Methodist Church on Cerulean Road in late December.

Thursday Night at the Auction
The Cadiz Rotary Radio Auction had a fun Thursday night with a pony as the star of the show. "Dandy" found a good home, and lots of great items were auctioned off as the Rotary prepared for tonight's grand finale.

Cadiz-Trigg County Helping Hands held their Empty Bowl Project at Cadiz United Methodist Church. The Janice Mason Art Museum was also involved in the project, as they allowed participants to paint their bowls in the workshop at the museum. Maintenance Work Getting Underway On Eggners Ferry Bridge
Transportation Cabinet crews are performing maintenance work on the remaining spans of the Eggners Ferry Bridge, in an attempt to get routine maintenance work completed before the arrival of the contractor who will build the new span to replace a 322-foot section knocked out by the Delta Mariner. Fire Causes Major Damage to Downtown Cadiz Building
A fire that was reported around 2:00 Thursday morning caused major damage to a building on Main Street in downtown Cadiz. The building, owned by David Chesnut, houses the Rabbit Hole Cafe, Oh My Antiques, Impressions Hair Salon and three upstairs apartments. Jammin' For Disaster
This past Saturday, February 25th the Mid-West Chapter of the American Red Cross held a fund raiser “Jammin’ for Disaster”. There was just too much fun going on at Valor Hall in Oak Grove, KY supporting Christian, Trigg, Todd, Muhlenberg, Caldwell, and Hopkins Counties for the American Red Cross. Reality Store at TC Middle School
Trigg County Middle School 7th Graders got a taste of "reality" during their "Reality Store" exercise. 7th Graders were told if they were married or single, how many children they had, given a job, and a salary for that job. The students began their journey into "Reality" with a visit to Uncle Sam and the Bank. Next they had to visit around 15 different stops to make purchases using their monthly salary, with their objective being to live within their means and have money left over.

After more than a week in the same location, the Delta Mariner moved away from the site of the collapsed Eggner's Ferry Bridge Monday. The cargo ship was moved a short distance away from the accident site, and the area was re-opened to recreational boat traffic.

Delta Mariner Moved From Accident Site
Coast Guard and Transportation officials confirmed Monday that the salvage operation of the Delta Mariner has progressed far enough that Foss Maritime is moving the cargo ship. Lt. Jennifer Jesse, with the US Coast Guard, says the Delta Mariner will be moving down river a short way to shallower water for the 3rd phase of the salvage.

426th BSB Service and Recovery Training

Bridge Structure May Be Shifting
