The end of an era came last year when the Christmas decorations never went up at the Nelson home on Lafayette Road but local residents will get a chance to see those decorations again this year.
Hopkinsville Mayor Dan Kemp announced Monday morning that Raymond and Wanda Nelson have donated their large and valuable collection of outdoor Christmas lights and decorations to the City of Hopkinsville. The Nelsons have for many years displayed the collection at their home on Lafayette Road. Kemp says beginning this year the city will add those decorations to enhance the city's holiday displays.
Mayor Kemp says they are very grateful to the Nelsons for this gift, the city will now be able to enhance lighting and decorations in several areas around town and possibly decorate new areas.
