Alcohol Suspected In Trigg County Fatal Crash

In a report issued late Monday afternoon, Kentucky State Police say they suspect alcohol could have been a factor in Saturday morning's fatal crash on Rockcastle Road in Trigg County that involved a passenger van and a tractor. State Trooper Thomas Clifton, one of the investigating officers on the scene, told the News Edge that while officials are awaiting final toxicology reports, there is reason to believe that alcohol was involved.

Trooper Clifton says State Police were told that the driver of the van, 30-year old David Shoaf, had been drinking Friday night.

Trigg County Coroner John Mark Vinson told the News Edge that he could confirm a "presumed presence" of alcohol involvement in the crash. Shoaf, along with 18-year old Kimberly Shafer, 17-year old Lindsey Sholar, and 19-year old Dalton McDougall, all of Cadiz, were killed in the accident. Another passenger in the van 18-year old Brenden Breen, of Cadiz, was injured.
