Logan County Traffic Fatal Claims Woman And Child

A Logan County woman and her grandson are dead following a traffic accident in the eastern part of Logan County Thursday afternoon. The Logan County Sheriff's Department report indicates 54 year-old Barbara Christian of Lewisburg was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck on Highway 106- the Spa Road. Her grandson 3 year-old Eli Jessup was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he later died.
Officials say the wreck happened shortly before 1:00 Thursday when Christian ran off the road and overcorrected, which resulted in her vehicle overturning multiple times. She and her grandson were both ejected from the SUV. Christian is the mother of Amanda Stokes, who serves as the Aging Planner through the Pennyrile Area Agency on Aging. Eli was Stokes' nephew.
