Hopkinsville Celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Hundreds gathered in Hopkinsville to remember and honor Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Monday, with most filing into the Mount Olive Baptist Church to hear Hopkinsville native, and Evansville pastor, Marvin Barner, Junior. Pastor Barner says the churches and the communities need to start seeing things differently to reflect the times in which we live.

He says the needs are there, all we have to do is open our eyes and see them.

Barner adds that those changes start in everyone.

The Hopkinville Ceremony began with a march from the Walnut Street Boys and Girls Club to the church on East 4th Street. As part of the ceremony, State Farm Agent Tom Bell presented Christian County High School with the School Challenge trophy.
