Two Tornadoes Touch Down In Christian County

The National Weather Service Storm Survey Team traveled through the area Thursday, and confirmed that two tornadoes and strong straight line winds caused damage in southern Christian County.  Warning Coordination Meteorologist Rick Shanklin says the damage to homes on Kentucky 117 is indicative of a tornado.

In addition to the tornado damage, Shanklin says they saw downburst damage to homes and buildings in the area as well.

Shanklin says much of what they do is determining the downburst damage from the type of destruction caused by a tornado.

Shanklin confirmed to the News Edge shortly after 5pm Thursday that the area survey shows a second tornado touched down in Christian County early Wednesday morning.

This is the second day the Storm Survey Team has been looking at damage in Kentucky. Wednesday the team traveled through Todd and Muhlenberg counties. Shanklin says the National Weather Service has several teams travelling around its Paducah coverage area conducting storm surveys
