Luna Sentenced To Life Without Parole

The man convicted last week in Trigg Circuit Court of killing a Marshall County woman and then setting the trailer she was in on fire, back in 2007, was sentenced to life without parole Monday. Circuit Judge Dennis Foust sentenced George Luna to life in prison with no possibility of parole for killing Debra Hendrickson, and then ordered Luna to serve 20-years for arson. The sentence was handed down around noon Monday.

Back on Friday, the jury of three men and nine women convicted Luna on charges of Murder and Arson in connection to Hendrickson's death in September of 2007. Judge Foust followed the jury's recommendation on sentencing, except that Foust ordered the sentences to be run concurrently.

This is the second time Luna has been convicted in the case. A 2008 conviction in Marshall County was overturned due to an issue with a juror. The retrial was moved to Trigg County when a jury could not be seated in Marshall County.
