Hopkinsville is already preparing to host the astronomical event of the century coming in 2017 with a planning meeting next week. Cheryl Cook with the Hopkinsville Christian County Convention and Visitors Bureau says we could see an additional 50,000-people in Hopkinsville that weekend and something that big needs some preparation.
Cook says at this point they aren't sure what kind of facilities they can or will have in the area near Princeton Road on the north west side of Hopkinsville where the event will last the longest.
The meeting will be Tuesday February 26th in the upstairs meeting room at the Harper House Restaurant beginning at 6:30 pm. Anyone interested in learning more about the 2017 Solar Eclipse is invited to attend. In August of 2017 the north west side of Hopkinsville will be the only place on the planet where the Solar Eclipse will be able to viewed the longest.
