Police Identify Women Accused In Child Abuse Case

Hopkinsville Police are identifying the women arrested over the weekend for child abuse, after a call from school officials. Police say 28-year old Latoya Stampley and 32-year old Paulette Godfrey are both facing three charges of 1st Degree Abuse. The arrest citation says Stampley "used tortorous methods to punish her 8-year old son and her roommates' son."

Stampley is accused of holding him down with her foot on his throat and kicking him in the side as well as rubbing alcohol on his buttocks to intesify the pain from spankings despite an open wound on the child. Police say Godfrey admitted during an interview to "using tortorous methods to punish her roommate's 8-year old son and hers' as well." She is accused of dragging the boy by his shirt down the hall as well as using alcohol on his buttocks.
