Fort Campbell Soldiers Visited By Fox Sports 1 Tour

While the day was designed around the launch of the new Fox Sports 1 channel, for the athletes it was about showing appreciation to Fort Campbell soldier and their families. 13 Fox Sports Girls from around the nation, Nascar associates Jeff Hammond and Danielle Trotta, UFC fighters Jake Ellenberger and Liz Carmouche, former MLB player Jose Tolentino, Predators Broadcaster and former NHL player Stu Grimson, and former soccer Olympian Frankie Hejduk did PT with 3rd Brigade, had breakfast with 101st Sustainment Brigade, participated in an obstacle course, spoke to high school students and rappelled down the 34 foot Sabalauski Air Assault tower. It was not all fun and games though, Hammond, a long time Nascar fixture, says the soldiers are an inspiration.

Fox Sports North representative, Jenny Taft, who has family serving, says she is honored to spend time with soldiers and hear their stories.

This wasn'’t Taft’'s first rodeo and she says she was excited to get back to visiting soldiers.

The athletes spent time answering questions from the Fort Campbell High School student body and Hejduk shared the story of his drive and determination to play soccer, despite not having the best skills as a child, offering the teens a life lesson.

For the obstacle course, which had to be moved inside of the Lozada Physical Fitness Center, guests were paired with several different 101st Sustainment Brigade battalions. The team to complete the seven obstacles in fastest time was the 716th Military Police Battalion. The group also played games with soldier during lunch at The Zone and Ellenberger and Carmouche spoke with 2nd Brigade soldiers about the best combatives techniques. Students and soldiers, alike, were excited about the visit from Fox, with one Air Assault School instructor even giving it a go against Ellenberger, the #4 welterweight in the UFC.  Click here to see pictures from the day.
