Deer Bow Season To Open Saturday

Kentucky's 2013-14 deer season opens on Saturday, the first day of the 136-day archery season. The season continues through Monday, January 20, 2014. According to Art Lander Jr. with Kentucky Afield Outdoors, record harvests have been recorded for September for the past three seasons. The outlook for the 2013-14 season is excellent. Although weather conditions aren't ideal this early in the season, early season hunting offers some advantages. Most deer are more visible during daylight hours and their daily movements are more predictable.

Kentucky Hunters for the Hungry will again accept donations of venison to feed needy Kentucky families. Hunters who would like to donate can find more information on the website at huntersforhungry.org. Fifty-seven processors across the state will accept deer for the program that provides about 500,000 meals annually.
