Charles Morris Takes The Stand During Murder Trial

The man accused of killing his three year old daughter in July 2011 took the stand in his own defense Thursday afternoon. During the third day of the murder case against Charles Morris, he took the stand to tell the jury his side of the events surrounding Alayna Adair's accident and death.

He says he was not allowed to ride in the ambulance and drove to Blanchfield where we was not allowed to ride in the helicopter either. Once he arrived at Vanderbilt, he say he refused the leave Adair's side. Though he showed no emotion on the stand, he says he was crippled with grieve when he learned she had failed the second brain scan on July 3rd and was declared dead.

During his testimony, his attorney Brandi McEldowney pointblank asked him about the charges against him.

Thursday morning, the jury heard from the pediatrician from Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Debra Lowen, who testified that there were signs of trauma, but until the autopsy, she did not know how extensive they were.

Though, Lowen is not a medical examiner, her medical expertise allowed her to explain to the jury the injuries found after Adair's death.
