Regional Citizen Corp Monthly Meeting

A local medical volunteer program was the featured topic at this month's Pennyrile Regional Citizen Corp Council Meeting at PADD.

Robbie McLellan with the Medical Reserve Corp talked about how the all volunteer program began.

President George W. Bush began the umbrella program that the Citizen Corp, Medical Reserve Corp, and CERT fall under. McLellan says they train for all types of emergencies but typically serve the community in much smaller ways.

McLellan says its that training though that helped reduce casualties when bombs exploded at the Boston Marathon this year.

For more information about how to volunteer for the Medical Reserve Corp contact Jim Creighton at PADD.
