Brookport Illinois Volunteer Efforts Being Organized



A Cadiz woman is organizing a Wednesday volunteer effort to help the residents of Brookport, Illinois. Retired Trigg County educator Charlene Sheehan says anyone who wants to spend a day volunteering to help the residents of Brookport, is welcome to accompany the group.


   
Sheehan says she is being told any and all volunteers are welcome.


   
Sheehan adds volunteers need to be prepared to work inside or outside.


   
For more information about assisting with the effort or accompanying the group, call Sheehan at 270-350-0575 or make contact with her through facebook. Meanwhile, Locust Grove Baptist Church is organizing a supply delivery for Brookport, Illinois. Pastor John Hagan says supplies can be dropped off at Cadiz Hardware.


   
Hagan says he spoke with a pastor in Brookport, who advised him there will be severals needs in the small southern Illinois community.


   
Brother Hagan says the Little River Baptist Association is also organizing a supply drive to address different needs than those being met through the Locust Grove effort.


   
The Little River Baptist Association office on Old Dover Road will also serve as a collection point for supplies. Christian County Baptist Association officials say their disaster assistance team is standing by to deploy to the area when they are notified by the Kentucky Baptist Convention. Please consider donating the following items to assist the residents in Brookport, Illinois.  Hagan says he will be leaving at 8:00 am Thursday morning and that will be the latest opportunity to donate.  Collection, which will officially cease at close of business Wednesday, is happening Cadiz Do It Best Hardware, on the corner of Main & Lakota in Cadiz.
