Cadiz, Hopkinsville Parades Coming Up

The list of participants in the Hopkinsville Christmas Parade is set, but there is still time to sign up for the Cadiz Christmas Parade. Cindy Sholar, with the Cadiz-Trigg County Chamber of Commerce, says the 25 dollar registration fee is due by close of business Wednesday.

The Cadiz Christmas Parade will be Saturday, December 7, starting at 6:00 pm and floats will be covered in lights. Doctor Scott Sutherland is the grand marshal of the parade for 2013. Before the parade everyone is encouraged to participate in the Festival of Trees Reception at the Janice Mason Art Museum, which starts at 4:00 pm. The beautiful display will include trees decorated by local organizations and merchants and will remain on display through the end of the year. WKDZ 106.5fm will be broadcasting live from the parade.

Meanwhile, in Hopkinsville, Parks and Recreations Program Director, Pam Rudd says they have nearly 100 participates registered for the 10:00 am parade in downtown.

Carter Hendricks will be grand marshal for the parade, which features the theme "Peace On Earth." Rudd adds the route will begin at Glass Avenue and move south on Main Street to 16th street. Glass Avenue will be blocked from 7:30am to 11:00am and there will be NO PARKING on Main Street from Glass Avenue to 16th Street from 9:00am - 12: noon. Following the parade in Hopkinsville, from 1 to 3 pm will be Christmas at the Bend at Jeffers' Bend Environmental Center on Metcalf Lane. Admission is $5 per car or $10 per bus. It is a family friendly event filled with nature and the simple ways to enjoy Christmas.  WHVO 96.5fm will broadcast live from the parade.
