Two Ceremonies For Wreaths Across America

Officials at the Walmart Distribution Center will be helping thousands of families honor their fallen hero this year, as they again participate in the Wreaths Across America transportation. General Transportation Manager Jack Smith says the transferring of the wreaths from one driver to the next will take place Thursday morning at 8:00 am at the Distrubtion Center on Crenshaw Boulevard, off Fort Campbell Boulevard.

The wreaths will then continue their journey across the country. December 14, 2013 is National Wreath-Laying Day. Wreaths will be laid at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West Saturday morning at 9:00 am. The public is invited to help lay wreaths on each grave.

Walmart is donating the services of 16 tractor/trailers to transport over 80,000 wreaths to memorial ceremonies across the country as part of the company's involvement in Wreaths Across America and National Wreath Laying Day.

Walmart support includes a $150,000 donation that will help Wreaths Across America purchase 30,000 wreaths for placement at national cemeteries and memorial sites across the United States, including Arlington National Cemetery. Walmart trucks will deliver over 80,000 wreaths to national cemeteries in 13 states (Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia) and the District of Columbia.
