Trigg County Woman Killed In Early Morning Fire

Kentucky State Police say no foul play is suspected in an early morning fire that claimed the life of a Rocky Ridge Road woman.  An autopsy confirmed Trigg County Coroner John Mark Vinson's ruling that the victim died of smoke inhalation. Trigg County Coroner John Mark Vinson identified the victim as 75-year old Dorothy Mitchell, of Cadiz, and spoke with the News Edge about what took place.

Vinson added that the time the fire broke out likely played a role in the extent of the damage that was caused.

According to Trigg County Dispatch, firefighters from the Montgomery Fire Department were initially called to the scene at 1:42am, after the fire had been spotted by neighbors. East Golden Pond and Cerulean Fire Departments were called in to provide additional water tankers and personnel. The Cadiz Fire Department assisted with personnel and equipment. Traffic was shutdown in the area while firefighters battled the blaze. The home was destroyed as a result of the fire.
