Hopkinsville Rolls Over South Oldham



The Hopkinsville Tigers quest for a state championship got off to a roaring start Wednesday, as they rolled to a 83-62 win over South Oldham. Hopkinsville led 9-7 early in the game, before they hit the Dragons with an 11-0 run and never looked back. Hopkinsville led at the end of the first quarter 23-15. The Tigers nudged the lead out to 41-31 at the half. Hopkinsville continued to extend their lead in the 3rd quarter, before blowing the game open with a 27-point fourth quarter performance. The News Edge spoke with Hopkinsville Coach Tim Haworth outside the winning locker room.


   
Hopkinsville got a huge game from Tra Edwards, who had 30 points. Quan Poindexter added 19, while Demarius Henry chipped in with 15 points and nine rebounds. South Oldham was led by Kyle Young with 15 points. Hopkinsville improves its record to 31-2 on the season, and the Tigers have still not lost to a team from the state of Kentucky this season. Hopkinsville now gets a day off before playing the quarterfinals against Louisville Trinity Friday at 11:00am central time.
