Community Shows Support With Red, White And Blue Day

In the aftermath of the tragic accident last week that claimed the lives of two Christian County High School students and injured two others, the community will come together again Friday by wearing the Colonels' red, white and blue colors to show its support. Qua Weaver and Jacob Blankenship died in an accident on the Bluegrass Parkway after they watched Hopkinsville High School play in the boys' basketball Sweet 16 tournament.

Christian County Principal Mike Stevenson says the idea for Red, White and Blue day came from someone outside of the school system.

Stevenson says he appreciates the support already shown to the school and the families affected by the tragedy.

As typical crosstown rivalry has been laid aside, Stevenson says the level of support has helped his students as they begin to heal.

To share your support for Red, White and Blue Day, post your photos on social media with the hashtag Together We're Better, or post them on the WKDZ or WHVO Facebook pages.
