Large Scale Training At Fort Campbell

Fort Campbell will be the location of a significant air assault exercise next week. Officials say Operation Golden Eagle will involve the 3rd Brigade Combat Team and the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade. The exercise will have more than 1,100 soldiers, more than 40 helicopters, and 20 sling load missions.

Troops will be executing a combined arms exercise, designed to exhibit the division's quick, and surprise, response capacity. Operation Golden Eagle will be the first Air Assault training event of this size in more than ten years.
