School Board Awards Pembroke Elementary Expansion Bid

Pembroke Elementary is set to double in size, both in number of students, and in physical size, following Thursday night's special called session of the Christian County Board of Education. The Board met to review construction bids for the project, and hear the recommendation of architect Keith Sharp. The bids ranged from a high bid of just over 12.5-million dollars, to the recommended bid from A&K Construction, at just over 10.9 million dollars. Sharp spoke with the News Edge after the meeting about his original estimate for the project.

A total of four bids were received for the Pembroke Elementary project, which adds classroom space, a new kitchen, a gymnasium, and remodels the front of the building. The board, on the motion of Sara Shepherd, voted unanimously to accept Sharp's recommendation.
