Cadiz Council Approves Trash Collection Plan

Clarksville Disposal will collect trash in the City of Cadiz until a new contractor is selected during the May council meeting. Cadiz City Council unanimously approved the low bid from Clarksville Disposal to begin trash collection service Monday, April 14th. The rates for basic service in the City of Cadiz will remain at $12 per month, with all commercial rates to also remain the same. City Clerk Lisa Rogers says the city actually received three proposals.

The base rate for Clarksville Disposal is $9.50 per month for residential service, not including franchise or any other fees. Council also voted unanimously to to purchase more than 900 residential trash containers and all commercial trash containers from Madisonville Disposal at a cost 59-thousand 500 dollars. City council members said they hope the new company will be willing to use the containers that were purchased from Madisonville Disposal for temporary use. The two decisions made during the special-called meeting mean city residents will see no change in trash collection schedules next week. In the meantime, City Clerk Lisa Rogers says she will begin advertising for bids as soon as possible.

Rogers says if all goes as planned, a new trash collection company will be in place June 1st.
