Broadbent's Ham Wins Award

A local industry has been recognized at the National level for having one of the finest products in the country. A Broadbent's B&B country ham was recently awarded the National Champion Award at the National Country Ham Association's national convention. Ronny Drennan with Broadbents says this is the first time they've ever won the award for they unsmoked ham.

Drennan says its interesting to see how their hams compare to hams from across the "Country Ham Belt."

Hams are judged on appearance and taste. A slice of ham was taken from the center of the ham, cooked and tasted by a panel of judges made up of Meat Scientist with Dr. Greg Rentfrow representing the University of Kentucky, Dr. Dwight Loveday representing the University of Tennessee, Dr. Wes Schilling representing Mississippi State University and Dr. Benji Mikel.
