TIF Ordinance Signed

Local officials, along with members of the board of the Bruce Convention Center gathered at the center Wednesday for the signing of the Tax Increment Financing ordinance that will provide funding for infrastructure improvements around the center. Hopkinsville Mayor Dan Kemp says this is the first step in getting some new retail into the community.

Bruce Convention Center Chairman Darrell Gustafson says these improvements will help to make the area attractive to prospective business.

The TIF ordinance was signed on second reading at recent Hopkinsville City Council and Christian Fiscal Court meetings. It provides a $500,000 loan to the Bruce Convention Center to make improvements, with the loan payments coming from a portion of taxes that would be paid to the city.
