Field Of Flags In Cadiz

One of the area's favorite patriotic summer events begins Saturday, June 14, in Cadiz. David Hazelmeyer with American Legion Post 74 says that's the official start of the annual Field of Flags.

Hazelmeyer says the flags will take up their usual post in front of Tollgate Center Plaza.

Hazelmeyer says people can make donations to dedicate flags to groups or individual veterans, both living and deceased.

He says people are encouraged to walk through the field. Volunteers will be there most days to explain the display and dedicate flags.

For Hazelmeyer, the field strikes a personal chord.

The flags will be on display until July 12, when a closing ceremony will include an official flag folding. All dedicated flags will also be available for pickup after the service.
