Christian County Man Indicted For Sex Offenses

A Hopkinsville man has been indicted by the Christian County Grand Jury on 16 sex charges that date back more than 20 years. 57-year old Sammy Dale Johnson was indicted Friday on 6 counts of Incest, 6 counts of Sexual Abuse, and 4 counts of Rape. The warrant for his arrest says that during a three month period starting in October of 1992, Johnson took his 14 year old daughter into his bed while his wife was asleep in the bed and sexually molested her. Johnson allegedly did this again multiple times until the middle of January 1993 when the daughter was able to escape the bedroom and runaway. Johnson was arrested in April of this year.

The Grand Jury also indicted 32-year old Leon Grimes for 3 counts of Wanton Endangerment, Assault, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Criminal Mischief, and Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon. The charges stem from an incident in April when Grimes reportedly fired a gun at 4 people grazing Jatraevionn Thorton and causing $500 in damage to a home.

28-year old Joseph Ray Mingle, of Pembroke, was indicted on charges of Wanton Endangerment, Unlawful Imprisonment, and Assault. The warrant for his arrest says he reportedly hit the victim in the face with a phone and keys, drug her into the house by her hair, kicked and hit her causing her to black out multiple times, and burned her neck with cigarettes

The Grand Jury indicted 8 other individuals on various other charges.
