Man Found Dead In Hopkins County Fire

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a man found inside of his burned out residence. Firefighters were initially called out around 9:30pm Saturday to the report of a mobile home fire on Roscoe Veazey Road, in Hanson. After firefighters were able to get the fire under control, they discovered the body of 51-year old James Simmons.

Officials with the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department say autopsy results show that Simmons had been shot in the head. Reports indicate that investigators do have a possible suspect in the case. A preliminary investigation by the State Fire Marshall’s Office did determine that the fire was suspicious in nature.
