Investigation Into Attempted Robbery Continues

State Police continue to investigate the attempted bank robbery in Princeton last week that left one man dead. On Friday, 67-year old James Hamm reportedly walked into the Planters Bank in Princeton with a stocking over his head, armed with a handgun. Princeton Police Chief Don Weedman had gone over to the bank to visit with employees who had been robbed just two days prior. Reports say Chief Weedman called for Hamm to drop the weapon but Hamm turned and fired. The Chief fired back at Hamm killing him. Trooper Stu Recke says their investigation into the incident is ongoing but is standard in any officer related shooting.

Princeton Police, Caldwell County Sheriff's Office, and KSP conducted a search of Hamm's home Friday where they found several items, including a large sum of money from the bank, that connected him to the Wednesday robbery.
