Death Penalty Sought In New Life Murders

The New Life Massage Parlor murder case may not go to trial as scheduled, following recent filings that may result in the application of the death penalty. Commonwealth's Attorney Lynn Pryor says she has filed a Notice of Aggravators with the Intent to Proceed as a Capital Case. This means Ed Carter and Frank Black, the two men charged with Murder in the case, and Leslie Duncan, charged with Complicity to Murder, could be facing the death penalty. Carter's attorney Brandi Jones asked Circuit Judge John Atkins for a continuance in light of the filing.

Another pretrial conference has been scheduled for Carter, Black, and Duncan on August 8th. The three men are accused in connection to the murders of Gloria Ross and Candida Belt in 1994 at the New Life Massage Parlor, a brothel in Oak Grove.
