Casey Dykes was named the head coach of the Hoptown Hoppers for the 2015 Ohio Valley Summer Collegiate League Thursday.
Dykes currently serves as volunteer assistant coach at Western Kentucky University in addition to head of their baseball operations.
Dykes played four seasons at WKU and was a teammate of Justin Hageman while in Bowling Green. Hageman was credited with helping recruit Dykes to Hopkinsville.
After Western, Dykes played three summers for the Brazos Valley Bombers near College Station in the Texas Collegiate League.
Dykes hails from Franklin, Tennessee where he was a two-sport athlete. That included playing football for former Hopkinsville head coach Craig Clayton while at Franklin.
Dykes takes over for Grayson Crawford, who has been the only head coach of the Hoppers since their reincarnation three years ago. Crawford was 81-41 during the regular season and 9-6 in the playoffs, including the 2012 OVL championship.
During the press conference to announce Dykes as the new head coach, Hoppers team president Ted Jatczak said the search is starting to find a replacement for Finney Noffsinger, who stepped down after three seasons as Hoppers GM.
