Two men and two juveniles were taken into custody after a pursuit that originated in Evansville, Indiana ended in Hopkins County. The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office reports they were notified about the pursuit shortly before 8:00 Wednesday night when the vehicle entered Hopkins County from Webster County. Deputies were informed the vehicle and occupants had been involved in an alleged robbery in Evansville, prompting the pursuit by Evansville Police.
Hopkins County Sheriff’s deputies reportedly saw the vehicle on Jewell City Road in Slaughters and tried to make a traffic stop, but the driver, later identified as 39-year old Samone Steen of Louisville, fled, reaching speeds of 90 mph before the vehicle hit a Kentucky State Police spike strip. A short time later, deputies say the vehicle ran off the road and all the occupants were taken into custody.
Steen and a passenger, 19-year old Geonovan Bailey of Evansville, were booked into the Hopkins County Jail charged with 1st Degree Fleeing and Evading Police in a Motor Vehicle and two counts of 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment. Steen was also charged with DUI with Aggravating Circumstances and several traffic-related offenses. The sheriff’s office reports two juveniles were also taken into custody and lodged in the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center.
