Guided Eagle Tour Groups Will Be Offered This Winter

The Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park will be offering guided eagle tours to groups who provide their own transportation this winter. Kentucky State Park officials say the tours are in addition to the Eagle Watch Weekend the park is holding January 26-28.

Park officials note the guided tours would be ideal for church, schools, youth and senior citizen organizations to see bald eagles in the Kentucky Lake-Lake Barkley area during January and February. They say tours can last from 1 to 3.5 hours and would be suitable for groups up to 35 people. Prices start at $50 for a group Aden are based on the length of the tour.

A park naturalist will take guests to several eagle-viewing hot spots, help spot the eagles in their wild habitat, and let you zoom in with a spotting scope for closer looks.

During the winter months, park officials say many migratory bald eagles visit the lakes area, swelling the population to 200 or more eagles. The tours start at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park with the naturalist getting onto your group's vehicle or leading you caravan-style. Officials indicate the park restaurant is also open for groups interested in including a meal during the trip.
