Man Charged With Cocaine Possession During Traffic Stop

A traffic stop in Hopkinsville Wednesday night landed the passenger in the vehicle in jail for drug possession. 37-year old Corvyon Thomas was charged with 1st Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance – Cocaine.

Hopkinsville Police report the driver was pulled over shortly after 11:00pm for not using a turn signal for about 100 feet at the intersection of East 4th and South Campbell streets. Police say they smelled an odor of marijuana and observed an open alcoholic beverage container in the cupholder of the truck. After Thomas was removed from the truck, officers reportedly found a small clear baggie with a white rock substance in the floorboard between the passenger seat and passenger door. Police indicate Thomas claimed the open alcohol container, but denied possession of the crack cocaine. Thomas was taken into custody and booked into the Christian County Jail.

Police report Thomas was also served a Complaint Warrant for Contempt of Court in Christian District Court.
