November Unemployment Rate Falls In 4 Pennyrile Counties

Unemployment rates fell in four counties in the Pennyrile District in November 2017 compared to November 2016, rose in four counties and stayed the same in one county in the Pennyrile. According to the unemployment rates released Thursday by the Kentucky Center for Education and Workforce Statistics, the jobless rate in Caldwell County for November 2017 was 4.1 percent, down from 4.4 percent in November of last year.

In Christian County, the November 2017 jobless rate was 4.9 percent, down slightly from 5.0 percent in November 2016.

In Hopkins County, the November 2017 jobless rate was 4.1 percent, falling from 4.6 percent in November of last year.

In Lyon County, the November 2017 rate was 4.6 percent, down from 5.3 percent in November 2016.

Statistics show the unemployment rate rose in Crittenden, Livingston, Todd and Trigg counties. Trigg County posted a jobless rate of 4.7 percent for November 2017, up from 4.6 percent in November 2016, and Todd County shows a jobless rate for November 2017 of 3.7 percent, compared to 3.5 percent in November 2016.

The unemployment rate stayed the same in Muhlenberg County from November 2017 and November 2017 at 5.6 percent.

Woodford County continued to record the lowest jobless rate in the Commonwealth at 2.7 percent, while Magoffin County continued to record the state's highest rate at 12.7 percent.

Kentucky's unemployment rate for November 2017 was 4.1 percent, compared to 3.9 percent for the nation.
