Trigg Magistrates Filing For Another Term

Five of the seven Trigg County Magistrates are seeking another term in office, with five political newcomers also filing. Those already in the running put their names in during the first month after the filing period opened in November.

District One Magistrate Mike Wright has filed to seek another term, along with District Magistrate Scotty Hampton. Although District Three Magistrate Jon Goodwin has not filed for another term, Cameron Sumner has filed to run as a Republican. District Four Magistrate Jeff Broadbent has filed to seek another term, along with District Five Magistrate John Gray. Democrat Kenneth Cherry has filed to challenge Gray in the May Democratic Primary. In District six, Magistrate Larry Lawrence has filed to run for another term. Although District Seven Magistrate Donnie Tyler has not filed for another term, Republicans James Adams, III, and Mike Lane have filed to run, along with Democrat Mike Williams.

Candidates have until January 30 at 4:00 to file for office.
