2017 Wrecks And Violent Crimes Down In Madisonville

The Madisonville Police Department is reporting a decrease in traffic accidents and a decrease in violent crime last year. Chief Wade Williams presented his 2017 year-end report to Madisonville City Council this week showing auto collisions decreased by 11 percent and violent crime was down by 28 percent, a 26 percent overall decrease over the last 6 years. He also said officers made over 100 new drug arrests that resulted in almost $1.5 million of illegal drugs removed from City's streets.

In addition to those decreases, Chief Williams said the police department participated and partnered in over 200 community events which resulted in hundreds of volunteer hours that went back into the Madisonville community.
