The House joined the Senate in approving a three-week continuing resolution Monday, signaling the end of a partial government shutdown that closed several programs over the weekend. The CR passed in the Senate with an 81-18 vote. The House approved the measure with a 266-150 vote.
The new CR will keep the government open through February 8th. This will give lawmakers time to negotiate immigration and border security issues, like the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program, which was a point of contention in the shutdown. The CR includes a measure granting back pay to federal employees furloughed during the most recent three-day shutdown.
