Education and training are two things nearly all the Democratic candidates for Christian County Sheriff say they would like to increase if they are elected. James Dragoo, Kahle Morris Jr., Jerry Pepper, Lyn Moe, and Julius Catlett Sr. were invited to speak to the Christian County Democratic Women’s Club at their monthly meeting Monday. The candidates drew numbers to decide which order they would speak in.
Dragoo says they are short staffed and that hampers time for training, but he would like to see it become a priority.
Morris says he wants to see the department be more proactive in education.
Training is also something Pepper wants to see more of.
Moe wants to see the department engage everyone in the community.
Catlett says all deputies should be approachable and make the citizens feel comfortable.
All candidates, including those for Sheriff, will be invited to participate in the League of Women Voter’s forums in April and May. Those dates will be set later this week.
