The Kentucky General Assembly is trying to put limits on how much a private attorney can benefit from taking a case for the State Attorney General. 3rd District Senator Whitney Westerfield says House Bill 198 is similar to previous legislation.
9th District Representative Myron Dossett says the bill will benefit residents.
Westerfield adds the attorneys will not be working for free.
He says sponsor Jason Nemes added an amendment to limit all attorney contracts.
The bill passed the House 52-40 last week and was sent to the Senate Friday for consideration.
