Oylers statement the high school administration and superintendent received information that a high school student made a threat of violence against students at Todd County Central. School district administration immediately made contact with law enforcement, provided them with the students information and made contacts with district personnel to ensure all concerned were aware. Oyler notes the school district takes these types of situations very seriously as the safety of the students we serve is of utmost concern.
The statement continues by saying while they do not believe a serious threat of harm is presented, they are making the public aware of this situation in a continuing effort to keep them informed. Oyler says there will be additional law enforcement at Todd County Central High School and district schools today. He encourages parents to talk with students about the seriousness of making threats whether on or off school property. Oyler adds all threats regarding schools must be taken seriously and can lead to significant disciplinary and legal action. He also ask that any additional information about the threat be provided to local law enforcement or directly to the superintendents office.
Oyler added that the student responsible for the threat will not be attending school Tuesday, February 20.
