In wake of the recent deadly school shootings at Marshall County High School and Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, approximately 500 students at Christian County and Hopkinsville High Schools joined thousands of other students across the nation for a walkout Wednesday. Christian County School District Chief Operations Officer Brad Hawkins tells the News Edge several hundred students walked out at both high schools around 10:00am.
Prior to the walkout at HHS, he says Principal Todd Marshall made an announcement over the intercom that anyone that wanted to walk out in remembrance of the students who had been killed in school shootings could meet in the courtyard in front of the building.
