The St. Patrick’s Day Cadiz Rotary 5k Run was held Saturday morning and deemed a success. For the first ever Rotary Run, Race Director Clara Beth Hyde tells the News Edge she had a goal of 100 participants.

She adds participants ranged in age from children to 71 years plus.Jessica Mathis, a home based teacher in Trigg County for Early Head Start, was the first female winner in Saturday’s race. She will be running in the Boston Marathon on Monday.

She notes they are hoping to make this an annual event.The race kicked off at 9:00am at the Trigg County Primary and Immediate School and continued down Main Street to West Cadiz Park and then runners returned to the school.
